[ɪᴄ/ᴘʀᴏ] ᴛʜᴇ Cᴏʟᴏʀs ᴏꜰ Lᴏᴠᴇ [1x1]
Deep under the ocean there is a secret facility that only a select few in the country know about. They call it the Poseidon Station. In this station, the most dangerous Colors in the country are locked away. Reds and Oranges aren’t the only dangerous Colors; they’re all dangerous, and these are the most dangerous of all. That’s why they’re kept somewhere that they can’t escape. It would take a miracle for them to escape from a secret facility hundreds of feet under the ocean.
Or maybe it would take just one person.
An accidental mix up. The latest shipment of Colors brought in a Blue with them. Just a regular Blue. She wasn’t listed with a high threat level. Everything about her is completely normal. Except she has a plan. Not a half crazed plan put together out of desperation. This is a plan that can break them out of the Poseidon Station for good. Everyone might not survive, but it’s a chance. And that’s more than any of them can hope for.
Here goes nothing.

Name:
Marlin Jean Fiore
Nickname(s):
MJ
Current Age:
Twenty-Two (22)
Gender:
Female
Color:
Orange
Power:
Neurocognitive Deficit: the ability to shut down a person’s brain functions, rendering them unconscious. A scary possibility is that using this power will have negative side effects on the victim, causing uncertain damage to them.
Strengths|| Weaknesses
✓ Knock-Out: Her power is very useful when dealing with a fierce assailant. She can make them go out like a light. It’s very useful when making a quick getaway.
✓ Observant: The silent type, Marlin is observant. She notices things that other people tend to miss. Instead of talking a lot, she pays attention to details.
✓ Compassionate: Although she might not seem emotional from the distance, Marlin cares deeply for a lot of things. If you’re one of her loved ones, she’ll do anything for you. She also loves any kind of animal, and hates cruelty towards them.
✗ Short-Lived: Her ability can only be used a few times before she feels like she’s going to pass out herself. She can only knock out about three people before feeling like she’s reached her limit.
✗ Sarcastic: Marlin isn’t very talkative, but when she does speak, it’s most likely sarcasm.
✗ Mumbler: Speak clearly? Yeah right. Half of the time you can’t understand what she’s said, which is probably her point, as she mutters a lot of insults under her breath.
Fears:
☯ Deep water/Swimming/Drowning
☯ Death because of what she is
☯ Giving someone brain damage/killing someone on accident with her power.
Personality:
Marlin is the ‘strong and silent’ type. She doesn’t talk often, and prefers to listen and look. That doesn’t mean she’s dumb and unable to join into a conversation. She’s smart and bitingly sarcastic, but she chooses not to display much. Although you might think that she’s apathetic, Marlin has a big heart and deeply cares for her loved ones. She’s a sympathetic creature who loves animals and friendly people. It might take you awhile to crack her shell, but once you do, she’ll be happy to have long conversations with you. You must be able to speak sarcasm right back at her in order to have any sort of relationship with Marlin.
Quirks:
☛ She doesn’t wear makeup anywhere but her eyebrows. They look pretty great without being filled in, but she’s still self conscious about them.
☛ Self conscious about her flat chest, so she generally wears loose tops and sweatshirts.
☛ Quiet everywhere else, but sings in the shower like a freakin’ diva
Other:
☮ Dogs are her favorite <33
☮ Volunteers at the city animal shelter
☮ Liiiightweight with alcohol, but still enjoys drinking

Re: [ɪᴄ/ᴘʀᴏ] ᴛʜᴇ Cᴏʟᴏʀs ᴏꜰ Lᴏᴠᴇ [1x1]
♣ ♣ ♣
Dina boarded the submarine with only a little apprehension. She had been raised by the water, and had practically lived in it her entire life. But being trapped underneath it, having to rely on human technology to protect her, was something that she wasn’t looking forward to. The ocean was a beautiful and dangerous place, especially so the deeper you got. From what she had heard, the Poseidon Station was deep. Everything was going to be alright though, because she had the plan.
She was strapped into her seat, with her hands cuffed in front of her. The cuffs didn’t neutralize her power, but the Calm Control being played at a low level did. Since she was only a blue, it just gave her an aching headache. The red sitting next to her was completely passed out, with a trickle of blood running from his ear. He was a blond and red, just like Sorrel.
Dina tried her hardest not to think of her ex-boyfriend, but this was a strong reminder. She leaned her head against the wall and closed her eyes. Sorrel was down there. She could lie to herself as much as she wanted, but the main reason she was doing this was to save him. Maybe they weren’t together anymore, but he was still her family. And his family would never forgive her if she failed this.
Lights flashed and the captain’s voice came over the intercom came over the loudspeakers, interrupting the Calm Control for a moment, announcing that they were now descending. The trip didn’t take awfully long, but she supposed that submarines could move pretty fast. The pressure within the cabin stayed at a steady pressure, making sure that no one got the bends.
Alarms sounded when they docked to the Poseidon Station. It was an obnoxious buzz that hurt her head almost more than the Calm Control. They were loaded out like cattle, poked and prodded with electric wands. Dina moved quickly to ensure that she wasn’t shocked. She wasn’t a yellow with a high electricity tolerance. She was a plain old blue, a fact that had been disputed greatly.
She had been a ‘mix-up’, an accident. Or so they thought. In the end, the guards had decided that it was too much of an effort to get rid of her, and they threw her in with the rest of the Colors. She was easily the least dangerous there. Her powers were mild, and she wasn’t listed as a threat. But she was here anyway, to break them all out. And she would do it. Or die trying.
The group went through a quick decontamination area and were dressed in plain white jumpers. Then they were shoved out into a communal cafeteria, where Colors were eating extremely bland food. Everyone was equipped with a bracelet that neutralized their powers. They were no threat, except in the physical manner. But Dina wasn’t worried about them.
Her soft grey orbs scanned the room for the one she really cared about. Her heart stopped at the sight of pale blond hair and dark crimson eyes. There he was. Sorrel. She couldn’t make herself move. This was all so much to take in at once. She stood frozen in the entryway to the cafeteria until she was prodded forward with an electric shock to the kidneys. Dina hissed in pain and reluctantly stepped forwards.
✪ ✪ ✪
The day had started off just like any other. She woke up and almost forgot that she was hundreds of feet underneath the sea, trapped in a prison that was probably leaking in a million places. But then Marlin remembered, and that’s when the anxiety set in. She squeezed her eyes shut and breathed in and out slowly, trying to calm her racing heart. A deep fear of the ocean paired with a healthy dose of claustrophobia made her life down here a living hell. She never felt safe, but she supposed that that was the point.
Poseidon Station was set up so that no one could escape without a submarine. And even if the Colors did manage to break loose of their power-neutralizing bracelets, they’d probably just drown everyone during their escape attempt. Mild and logical Marlin had given up hope. She had tried to hard to think of every way to get out, and came up blank. The young woman had resigned herself to being trapped down here for the rest of her miserable life.
It wasn’t 100% awful. Maybe only 98%. Her days were brightened a little bit by Ryan and Sorrel, the only two people that she had gotten to know in the Poseidon Station. They made it bearable to be alive, and had helped her through several anxiety attacks. Living in a constant state of fear was not healthy, and Marlin sometimes wondered if her heart was going to give out because of all of this stress. She swore she had a few grey hairs already.
After she had finally forced herself to get off of her cot, she wandered to the cafeteria, where she was too late for breakfast. This happened frequently. It was rare that she actually made it to breakfast. To be fair, she didn’t have much of an appetite. That can kind of happen when you constantly feel like you’re going to die. As much as she tried to think her way logically through everything, it didn’t apply to her intense phobia.
Lunch had been when things got interesting. Just before it began, alarms started sounding. The poor girl almost had a heart attack, thinking that they were flooding. Things were quickly clarified by the guards, who informed them that a new shipment of Colors were coming in. That did nothing to calm her down, and Marlin sat in place, trembling, until those new Colors began to enter the cafeteria. They all looked as scared as her, even more so because this was the beginning of their sentence.
But one girl...she didn’t look scared at all. More, apprehensive, perhaps. There was something strange about her. The new girl was staring at Sorrel with an intensity that was disturbing. Marlin turned to Ryan, who had sat down beside her just a second ago. ”What’s up with her? She’s staring a hole in Sorrel’s head.” They probably knew each other. That was the only reason that she could think of.

Sorrel Ang
"You could cause a massacre."
Sorrel spun his dry noodles around his fork. His fringe fell into his eyes again and he swept them back. Pushing his food around on the stained white plate, he finally lifted his fork to his mouth. The cruel words snarled at him kept rewinding in his mind. He wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because they accompanied the last time he saw Dina, and he had dreamt of her the night previously as was common.
Though his thoughts begged to be taken down memory lane once more, he directed his attention elsewhere. Like observing the surroundings and taking in the deafening silence, broken only by the clanging of silverware against ceramic. The walls and floor tiles were white, sterile. It was as if the entire place had lost its soul.
He certainly felt that way.
Briefly, an image of Dina came into mind.
His heart fell and he returned his dying attention to the miserable food. Another few more minutes disappeared. Then the sound of footsteps and the familiar crackling of cattle prods resounded. It must be the new shipment of Colours. Dangerous. Sorrel wondered dully if it was a good idea to put so many 'dangerous' people together, but what did it matter when their cuffs nulled their abilities?
He did not bother turning around. It was something he had gotten used to in his time here, and staring would do nothing anyway. And he wouldn't have looked if not for the person sitting next to him nudging him and whispering, "Hey, I think one of the new girls is staring at you."
Wearily, he turned his gaze around.
He combed his fingers through soft russet hair, the hair spilling over his lap. Idly, he lightly traced his right thumb over his girlfriend's cheek, and their other hands tightened, fingers interlocking. Staring out into the forbidding sea, the sunset casting its warm hues over the surface, he mused about eternity with her.
"Dina," he whispered.
It took a great deal of effort and mindfulness not to just abruptly stand up. Any sudden motion would make the guards come over. He wanted none of the cattle prods near him, thank you very much. It also didn't seem like a terribly wise idea to just greet her so openly too.
Frantically, he looked around and wondered how he could get her to come over. But god, seeing her face-- he never thought the hurt would be so visceral. He fixed his gaze at her, subtly inclined his head, and turned back to his food.
Thinking about it, with how his heart seized, he realised he didn't want to see her even now. (But he wouldn't deny the relief that she was still alive.)
Ryan Dermot Summers
It always pained Ryan to see Marlin so terrified. He knew that no matter what he did or how hard he tried, he could never completely take away her fears. This underwater station was a nightmare come to life for her; he had never wished so hard before to break someone else's nightmare. And he would do it for no other. Not when everyone else in his life had disappointed him.
Curling one arm around his girlfriend's shoulders, he squeezed her left arm and ruffled her hair affectionately. She was shaking like a leaf. He found himself wishing he could manipulate away some of her fear. At the same time he wished that, he also thought that that wasn't right. It was intrusive even if it was for the better of her. He smiled wryly to himself. For anyone else, he would have never thought that way (or, he would, but he wouldn't have actually seen a point).
"It's okay babe," he soothed and finished off his bland soup. The least they could do was give them canned soup, sheesh.
He wouldn't have bothered with the newcomers had Marlin not point one of them out. So naturally, he turned to look and arched an eyebrow. Then he looked at Sorrel and observed his actions, the subtlety of it not escaping him at all. The conflict flashing over Sorrel's face amused Ryan.
"Probably someone he knows from before," he replied flippantly. "That's not any normal stare though, and he doesn't seem too happy to see her. So there's probably some sort of bad blood. She's not reacting in the usual way too..." The analysis tumbled right out of his mouth without any thought. It was a habit of his he...wasn't keen on kicking, to be honest. But he tended to let his tongue loose around Marlin.
"Are you feeling better?" he added.

Re: [ɪᴄ/ᴘʀᴏ] ᴛʜᴇ Cᴏʟᴏʀs ᴏꜰ Lᴏᴠᴇ [1x1]
♣ ♣ ♣
The whole world stopped when she met his eyes. The silence around her became deafening. It was like a tidal wave just waiting to fall and evaporate into mist. Dina felt herself sinking into her memories, both happy and sad. The winning point scored just as the buzzer went off. Their students cheering deafeningly loud. She and the cheerleaders dissolved from their arrangement to cheer at the top of their lungs. Sorrel smiling as brightly as the sun. He approached her and grabbed her by the waist, leaning her down to--
She snapped out of that when Sorrel inclined his head, signaling--she hoped--for her to come over to him. His lack of emotion was surprising. He always had been the more emotional one in their relationship; at least, in her opinion. But perhaps the guards would do something if he acted up. Dina didn’t want that. It was best to play it safe. She briefly scanned the cafeteria before slowly, so slowly, making her way over to Sorrel.
Maybe this hadn’t been a good idea. Maybe she shouldn’t have tried to talk to him right away. Her emotional wounds still felt as fresh as the day they had happened. The brunette took a deep, calming breath and took the seat directly across from Sorrel. Her foot brushed his, and she couldn’t help but to flinch slightly. What did she say? After all this time, what on earth was there left to say to him?
Dina rested her hand on the cafeteria table, mere inches away from his. She could reach out, she could touch him. No. They weren’t like that anymore. But she wasn’t here because of only him. She had a bigger purpose. Dina touched the scar on her wrist as a reminder of her goal here. Escape. She bit the inside of her cheek and raised her eyes to meet Sorrel’s once more, a melancholy expression on her face.
”Sorrel.” She exhaled quietly, her heart as taught as a wire in her chest. How could she feel so relieved and so anxious at the same time? ”I’m so glad you’re okay.” Okay being a relative word. No one could truly be okay in a place like this, it couldn’t be possible. But he appeared unharmed, and that gave her a small reason to relax.
His bangs were ridiculously long as always, and they fell in front of his eyes, obscuring some of the emotion hidden in them. Those eyes had always been able to read her so well. It was too bad that she hadn’t been able to read herself. Maybe things could have been prevented if she was just a little more observant. But she wasn’t, and things happened anyway. She had never felt as helpless as she had during those times, but this was easily coming a close second.
✪ ✪ ✪
Marlin leaned into Ryan’s embrace, taking comfort from his touch. He understood that he could do nothing to truly dissipate her fears, but he also knew small ways to lessen them. His presence was always a great relief. If she hadn’t been one hundred percent sure that a guard would tase them, she would have given him an affectionate kiss on the cheek. As it was, even this show of affection was risky. The guards didn’t like people getting close.
She and Ryan were both Oranges, although they shared drastically different abilities. Though they had their differences, they both understood the internal struggle of not having complete control of their minds. Unfortunately, that marked them as some of the most dangerous colors. Even though Marlin had never meant to do it on purpose, she had harmed a great many people.
”Yeah, it’s fine.” She sighed quietly, trying to make herself believe that.
Ryan quietly analyzed the new girl and Sorrel’s reaction, something that Marlin was quite used to. It was soothing to hear him think out loud. As for herself, she generally internalized her thoughts. They definitely knew each other. There wouldn’t be so much tension between them if they didn’t. She could feel it from here. Maybe she was an old flame? A cousin? A friend?
”She doesn’t look scared.” The blonde commented, poking her food absently with her fork. ”And she knows Sorrel. I have a feeling that there’s more to her.” Marlin couldn’t explain why she felt that way aside from saying that it was a gut instinct. This girl was going to change things. For better or worse, she didn’t know. Or maybe she was just overthinking things, as usual.
At her boyfriend’s question, she dipped her head slightly. ”I’m okay.”

Sorrel Ang
Part of Sorrel wanted to laugh sadly over the angst he felt at seeing Dina again. It felt ridiculous considering the situation they were in but alas, it was not as if he could make himself feel any other way. Seeing her brought back a wave of cherished memories which only hurt him now. An intense wave of sadness swept over him and his eyes fell to his food.
When she finally sat down across him, he looked back up. She still...looked the same. She was still as gorgeous as ever and his lips twisted into a bitter smile at how he felt over that. He wished he could kill his emotions. But now wasn't the time to tend to those grieving feelings.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, voice as gentle as ever. "You shouldn't be here. It's..." white walls, calm control, empty rooms, cattle prods, "...not a place for you. How did you get here? Do the guards...know?" He didn't have to specify what he was referring to.
Ryan Dermot Summers
Ryan kept one eye on Marlin while he directed his attention to Sorrel and the mysterious girl. As much as the latter intrigued him and he wanted to know more, including the fact that Sorrel looked so tortured, Marlin was more important to him. He wouldn't leave her unless they were together.
"They're talking," he pointed out. "Sorrel looks like he's been better. Like, way better. She could be his ex," he suggested. Not like he would know, considering he never really had a serious relationship until Marlin (and wow, was it fantastic that he met his first serious girlfriend in a death trap).
He looked over at the clock propped up on a wall. He was grateful that there were still clocks around the station. Without a sense of time, he would most certainly have gone crazy.
"Lunch will be over soon so we can talk to them after? If you want. Or we can go to the park." Artificial as hell park with a very nice view of the ocean depths, though also being one of the better places to be at, but that was besides the point.

Dina peered over at Sorrel with what she hoped was a calm expression. She was anything but. She knew it was painful for him to see her here. Hell, it was painful for her as well. When he spoke, his gentle voice flowed over her. It felt like a punch to her gut.
”I got caught.” She smiled bitterly, putting on a show for anyone watching. ”They mixed me in with the Reds and Oranges by accident. When they figured out I was a Blue, we were already boarding the submarine.”
She almost reached her fingers across those few inches between their hands, but she didn’t. She couldn’t touch him, she just couldn’t. Dina curled her hand into a fist, thinking wistfully of their past. Happy memories this time, not sad ones. They had a lot of good memories, but they were often overshadowed anymore.
”Is there somewhere we can talk...privately?” It wasn’t exactly as if she could just talk him through an escape plan in front of the rest of the Colors, not to mention the guards. It was far too dangerous. She only hoped that she could Sorrel alone sometime soon.

”He looks constipated.” Marlin commented with a faint smile. ”Definitely an ex.” They didn’t look similar enough to be related, and she doubted an old friend would have that kind of effect on him. She sensed that Ryan wasn’t really interested in what was going on between Sorrel and this mystery girl, so she turned her attention back to him.
At the mention of going to the park or talking to Sorrel, she weighed each option carefully. Talking to the new girl would be something...well, new. Going to the park would be the same old, same old. But she’d be with Ryan. ”Maybe we could talk to them, and then go to the park.” She suggested a compromise.
The park mentioned was a very fake arrangement set up to mimic an actual park. The plants were all plastic, she believed. Marlin was surprised that their captors had put that much effort into it, honestly. It was something mean to placate the Colors, she supposed. The only thing she didn’t like there was the large glass window. Every time they went there, she couldn’t resist the urge to check for cracks.
She preferred to stay on the other side of the ‘park’, as far away from the window as possible. Her eyes drifted over to the clock, noting that lunch was almost over. She’d hardly touched her food.

Sorrel Ang
"I see." He set his fork down and pushed his plate to one side. The food, which wasn't that appetising to begin with, suddenly tasted like sand. "They didn't care and brought you to this...hellhole." His voice dipped at the last word, right hand balling briefly into a fist before relaxing.
His gaze flicked back to her, eyes wide in surprise at her request. Then he took a breath to calm down and ran through a list of options mentally.
"Yes." He was curious. He highly doubted it had to do with their relationship considering the gravity of the situation. "But don't you have to do a medical checkup after this? Or have they fully registered you already?"
Ryan Dermot Summers
"He looks constipated."
Ryan barked out a sharp laugh at that and received a glare from a guard. He coughed into his hand and quietened down again. As much as he liked to edge around the boundary as much as possible, getting punished wasn't exactly on his list of priorities. He returned his attention to Marlin, lips curled into a faintly amused smile.
"Let's do that then," he agreed.
He lapsed into silence and watched the minute hand of the clock tick away. Watching, waiting, for the hour hand to move, reminded him of the times he would sit in the living room of his house and stare at the time. Counting the time it took for his parents to stop screaming.
Before his mind trailed too far down memory lane, he looked back at Marlin.
"Do you think anything will ever change?"
The hands moved and lunch time was up.

She looked sadly over at him. ”It’s rare to find people that care these days.” Once they were alone, she could tell him the truth. But for now, she had to play it cool. From the way that Sorrel spoke, it was clear that he truly despised it here. How could he not? So far, Poseidon Station made her skin crawl.
”Good, that’s good.” A medical exam? She hadn’t heard anything about that yet. She was sure that she would have to do some sort of medical procedure, but for now, she had the bracelet. ”I’m not sure. Won’t they come get me when they need me?” Dina shook her head. ”Sorrel, I need to talk to you as soon as possible. This can’t wait.”
She didn’t want to make much of a scene here, but this was urgent. Thankfully, it seemed like the lunchtime was over. People started moving, the clock ticked forwards. Dina got to her feet and ran a hand through her hair, a nervous twitch of hers. ”Can we go?”

Marlin had to stifle her own laugh as one of the guards looked at Ryan funnily. She loved seeing his genuine reactions. So much of him was hidden away. It was refreshing to see him open. She edged slightly closer to him, taking his hand under the table and squeezed it gently. Would things change? That’s a good question.
”I hope so.” Marlin answered. ”Because if things don’t change, the rest of our lives are going to really, really suck.” She followed his line of sight, over to the clock hanging on the wall. Their lunch time was almost over.
When it was finally time, she released Ryan’s hand after one more squeeze, and got to her feet. ”I miss my eyebrows.” She mused as they walked over to Sorrel and the new girl. ”I really do. My eyebrows were fantastic.”
